'I've been working on my follow up single, over a brand new beat from my producer IBA. I been stacking up tunes for my new mixtape coming out in 2015, and working on this single. I been taking my time to perfect the music, focussing on one thing at a time right now'

UK rapper Smokee's new single Rubber Band Pops has been added to the BBC Radio 1Xtra playlist. It will also be played on radio 1. This is the first mainstream release from the Harrow rapper and is a great sign Smokee is emerging from the underground scene, getting more mainstream acclaim. Smokee will be having a chat with DJ Target on Sunday's Homegrown Show on BBC 1 Xtra. Tune in a 4.45 to hear Smokee introduce his new single Rubber Band Pops and the dance remix produced by DJ Q. DJQ looped the hook and reworked the original hip hop track produced by ZDot into a catchy hit.

The London rapper will be discussing his influences and discussing his follow up single Snakes and Ladders as well as the new mixtape Planet of the 8th's Vol. 2, the follow up to his first mixtape. Also, getting national radio play and mainstream attention after many years as an underground MC.
